Velanci Jewellery Care Instructions

Jewellery lasts longest when it’s kept clean, dry, and away from harsh chemicals. The tips below are designed for everyday pieces such as chains, bracelets, and pendants, including stainless steel and plated finishes. If your item has a specific material note on the product page (for example sterling silver, gold plating, or stones), follow that first.

Daily wear and handling
Put jewellery on last, after applying fragrance, deodorant, hair products, lotions, or sunscreen. Oils and chemicals can dull shine and speed up tarnishing or plating wear. Avoid pulling, twisting, or overstretching chains, and remove jewellery before sleeping to reduce snagging and stress on clasps and links.

Water, sweat, and chemicals
Remove jewellery before showering, bathing, swimming, using hot tubs, cleaning, or washing dishes. Chlorine, saltwater, soaps, and household cleaners can affect finishes and accelerate discolouration. If you wear jewellery during warm weather or activity, wipe it down afterwards to remove sweat and moisture.

Cleaning (safe for most jewellery)
Use a soft, dry microfibre cloth to gently wipe the surface after wear. For a deeper clean, use lukewarm water with a small amount of mild soap, gently wipe with a soft cloth, then rinse with clean water and dry fully. Avoid abrasive materials, polishing pastes, ultrasonic cleaners, and chemical dip solutions unless the product page specifically says they’re suitable for your item.

Plated finishes and natural wear
Plated jewellery can gradually show wear over time, especially on high-contact areas. This is normal with regular use. Keeping pieces dry, storing them properly, and avoiding friction with hard surfaces will help slow this down. If you notice residue or dullness, clean gently and dry thoroughly rather than using harsh cleaners.

Storage (prevents tangling and tarnish)
Store jewellery separately so pieces don’t scratch each other. Keep items in a dry place, away from humidity and direct sunlight. Use a pouch, soft-lined box, or separate compartments to reduce tangling and preserve the finish. Make sure jewellery is completely dry before storing.

Travel tips
Fasten chains before packing to reduce knots, and store each item in its own pouch or compartment. Avoid leaving jewellery in bathrooms or damp areas while travelling.

If your item includes stones or special finishes
Avoid knocks and hard impacts, as stones and settings can loosen. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cloths on stones. If your piece has a specific care note on the product page, follow it for the best results.

When to contact us
If your jewellery arrives with a fault or a clasp/link issue, contact us with clear photos so we can help. Changes from everyday wear, contact with chemicals, or moisture exposure are not the same as a manufacturing fault, but we’re still happy to advise on care and cleaning.
